As of 02:00 UTC October 28, Severe Tropical Storm Saola was located about 26.0°N 128.2°E, about 60 kilometres (37 miles) southeast of Naha, Japan. 10-minute sustained winds are at 60 knots (110 km/h; 70 mph); 1-minute sustained winds are at 65 knots (120 km/h; 75 mph), with gusts up to 85 knots (155 km/h; 100 mph). The minimum barometric pressure is at 975 hPa (28.79 inHg), and the system is moving north at 12 kn (22 km/h; 14 mph)

2017 Pacific typhoon season T he  2017 Pacific typhoon season   is an ongoing event in the annual cycle of   tropical cyclone   formation, in which tropical cyclones form in the western Pacific Ocean. The season runs throughout 2017, though most tropical cyclones typically   develop   between May and October. The season's first named storm, Muifa, developed on April 25. This season featured the latest occurrence of the first typhoon of the year since  1998 , with Noru reaching this intensity on July 23. The scope of this article is limited to the Pacific Ocean to the north of the  equator  between  100°E  and the  180th meridian . Within the northwestern Pacific Ocean, there are two separate agencies that assign names to tropical cyclones which can often result in a cyclone having two names.
